Malawi Queens hit out against New Zealand
Malawi had their first look at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the venue for the world netball championships when they had a practice match with New Zealand last night.
No official score was kept but New Zealand player Langman said Malawi, ranked seventh in the world, had improved since the 2007 world championships in Auckland, where they finished fifth.
Malawi play England in their first game on Monday 4th July before meeting Malaysia and finishing the group stages with a match against Barbados.
New Zealand are the top ranked team in the world and are favourites to win the championships. Malawi aim to break into the top four after finishing at position five in all the world tournaments since 2006.
To break into the top four Malawi Queens need to get more fit and grow a few centimeters taller, otherwise it is difficult to challenge teams like Jamaica and England.
