Malawi move one step to position 71 in the latest FIFA ranking
Malawi move one step and climb to position 71 in the latest world football rankings released by FIFA on Wednesday 29th June. It also moved one position up in Africa to position 15 and are now ahead of Botswana.
Malawi drew both their games in the last month against lowly Swaziland and surprise package Botswana, but still managed to move one position in the ranking both regionally and worldwide.
The draw against Swaziland cost Malawi as they only gained a meager 43 points from that game due to the lowly ranking of Swaziland, but gained 281 points from the draw against Botswana in the CAN 2012 qualifiers.
Malawi's next competitive game in the CAN 2012 qualifiers is on 4th September against Tunisia in a game Malawi has to win to qualify for the CAN 2012 finals.
Elsewhere, Spain retained position number one in the world.
