Singapore 2011: Malawi Queens prepare with a game against Botswana

Malawi Queens prepare for the Netball Championships in Singapore next month with a game against Botswana this weekend.

Malawi feature a new younger team for the championships as the veterans have been left out. Three veterans including Mary Waya retired and no reason has been given for leaving out some veterans such as Linda Magombo Munthali .

Botswana arrive in Malawi on Friday. They are expected to play a couple of friendly fixtures though their schedule has not been released.

Malawi who have dropped to position seven in the world rankings just behind South Africa and Botswana are the third ranked team in Africa.

In a surprise move Mary Waya has been recalled to camp. It is not clear why the technical panel has decided to do this. They have missed an opportunity to try new players as Mary Waya (age 41) and others expressed their wish to retire.

Malawi team in camp: Grace Mwafulirwa, Caroline Ntukule Ngwira, Towera Vunkhumbo, Joana Kachilika, Beatrice Mpinganjira Kadango, Florence Chirwa, Khumbize Chazemba, Emeleya Gedion, Beauty Chirwa, Rose Saili, Bridget Kumwenda, Enelesi Mdezo, Sindi Simtowe, Tina Kamuyambeni, Jane Chimaliro, Cecilia Ntukule, Joyce Mvula, Mwayi Kumwenda
