Malawi President Peter Mutharika clueless on shortage of drugs in hospitals
Despite numerous reports of drug shortages in Malawi hospitals, Malawi president Peter Mutharika yesterday expressed surprise at reports of shortage of drugs in the country’s public hospitals, saying government has bought enough drugs recently.
Said the President: “The only problem is that I am not aware where the drugs are being stocked currently, but I am sure something is wrong somewhere.
Mutharika, who turned 75 last week is reported to be under performing in running the government
Findings by the Institute of Public Opinion and Research (IPOR) of the Afrobarometer has shown that more than three quarters of Malawians in the three districts say that the country’s economic situation is bad
The survey directed by University of Malawi political science expert Boniface Dulani was conducted in three districts, Rumphi, Salima and Thyolo. It established than 70 percent of the people in the country say Malawi is going in the wrong direction.
