National Salvation Front president James Nyondo dies
James Mbowe Nyondo, President of Malawi's National Salvation Front (NASAF) party has died.
Nyondo was a Presidential candidate in 2009 general elections and 2014 triparite elections.
His family says Nyondo, 47 succumbed to lung cancer Friday night at Steve Biko Hospital in South Africa.
Nyondo is survived by wife and three children. Burial arrangements to be announced later.
Nasaf secretary general Lester Chikoya said Nyondo’s death was such a big blow to the party, his family and to the Malawi nation.
Chikoya described Nyondo as a patriotic leader who had the welfare of Malawians at heart and lived his life to serve for the sake of others.
