Namibia pulls out of hosting Africa Netball Championships, tournament moved to Botswana
In a last minute move, Netball Namibia has surprised the African netball community by withdrawing from hosting the Africa Netball Championships, scheduled for June 27 - July 3. Botswana will now host the netball games.
This 2015 Africa Netball Championships were previously scheduled to run in Zambia. However, Zambia withdrew late last year citing financial problems in relation to preparing for the World Netball Cup.
Namibian sources claim internal problems at the Netball Namibia Association are to be blamed for the decision to withdraw from hosting the games.
Malawi Queens who are currently in South Africa playing in the Diamonds Cup are expected to participate in the tournament.
The following countries had previously confirmed to participate: Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana,Swaziland and Tanzania. It is not clear whether Kenya and South Africa will participate.
