Former DPP guru Heatherwick Ntaba rejoins medical practice

Veteran Malawi politician Dr. Heatherwick Ntaba who served as Presidential Spokesperson for late Bingu wa Mutharika has resumed active medical practice after a break of some years.

Dr. Ntaba was rendered jobless soon after the death of president Mutharika in April this year, a situation which might have necessitated his move back into active medical practice.

Kamuzu Central Hospital Director Dr. Noor Alide confirmed that Dr. Ntaba is undergoing orientation at the hospital.

“Medical Council of Malawi recently informed us that the veteran politician had submitted his application to resume active medical practice,” Dr. Alide said.

The KCH Director said Dr. Ntaba is currently being re-orientated at the hospital, as per Medical Council of Malawi requirement that any medical personnel who have not been practicing for more than five years should undergo re-orientation.

“As a central hospital, we conduct orientations for medical personnel from other countries who would like to practice in the country. We also conduct these orientations to local medics who haven’t been practicing for more than 5 years,’ Dr. Alide said.

Dr. Ntaba could not comment on the matter when contacted, as he said he was busy.
