Peoples Party & independent candidates win Mzimba by-elections
Results from the Mzimba Southwest by-election poll have given Peoples Party (PP) its first elected memeber of Parliament Raymond Nkhata who won with 9,654 votes.
His runner-up is James Nthara, a PP turned independent got 4,636 votes beating DPP's Ronald Chavula who got with 3,210 votes.
On the other hand in Mzimba Central, the ruling party lost to an independent Mabvuto Kachali who got 9,412 votes. Ironically, Mavuto Kachali ditched the ruling PP to stand as an independent candidate after he failed during the primary elections in the Peoples Party.
