Fast and furious start for Malawi netball team in South Africa

Malawi netball team thrashed inexperienced Zambia 75-32 in the ongoing Diamond netball games in Pretoria, South Africa.

Malawi started furiously taking the first quarter 23-5 with Zambia struggling on the ball. The second quarter was played similarly despite Malawi slightly slowing down and ended the half leading 41-12.

The second half was another blitz and found a slightly improved Zambia chasing the ball with Malawi taking the game 75-32.

In the other match Botswana applied the breaks to South Africa but lost 55-26.

The opening games gives a picture of how the tournament will unfold. Malawi and South Africa will meet in the finals on Saturday and unless the South Africans improve they are likely to be embarrassed by the more shaper Malawi side.

On Thursday Malawi meets Botswana while South Africa will play against Zambia.

Friday fixtures see the big rivals Malawi and South Africa tussling for bragging rights. Malawi team which is the #1 team in Africa are the favourites to win that battle.

Saturday will see the two top teams South Africa and Malawi battling again in the finals of the tournament.
