Malawi Parliament beats Zambia 5-2 in Chipata
In a prelude to the independence football clash between Zambia and Malawi to be held on 6th July Malawi members of parliament handed a heavy defeat 5-2 to their Zambian counterparts in a match played at the David Kaunda Stadium in the border town of Chipata.
Malawi showed class and took the lead through skipper John Zingale who is MP for Chikhwawa West silencing the partisan crowd that tried to enthuse their MPs by singing the chipolopolo anthem.
Zambian MPs failed to replicate the form of their national team, which took the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, instead Malawi dominated and triumphed with Billy Kaunda MP for Mzimba and on-off musician snipping in two goals.
Zambia scored through Whiteson Banda and Misheck Mucheleka to briefly threaten Malawi, but that was short-lived and it was Malawi controlling the proceedings for the remainder of the game.
Malawi added two further goals through Peter Chalera MP for Lilongwe Msinja North.
Malawi’s Speaker of the National Assembly Chimunthu Banda graced the event.
