Journalist acquitted on taking Ndata Farm pictures

The Limbe Magistrate court on Friday acquitted Montfort Media journalist Ernest Mahwayo charged with taking pictures of Ndata Farm, residence of the late President Bingu wa Mutharika.

First grade magistrate Anne Chikhadzula told the court on Friday that the state has failed to provide evidence on the allegations hence the acquittal.

Mahwayo has since said he will sue government for damages following this development

Construction of Villa Casablanca at Ndata Farm in Thyolo attracted mixed reactions from all sectors of the society, as many thought it was constructed using tax payers’ money.

Journalists were restrained from taking pictures or any information about the Ndata Mansion, once dubbed by local newspapers as Monster House.

Many speculated that the house had over 20 bedrooms but during the burial of the late President, his brother Professor Peter Mutharika clarified that the house only has five rooms
