Former veep Chilumpha defects to People's Party
Malawi’s opposition party leader, chairman of the Friday Jumbe UDF faction and former Vice President of Malawi Cassim Chilumpha has defected to the Peoples Party.
He was unveiled together with Henry Phoya of the MCP and Uladi Mussa of the Malavi People's Party who on Thursday morning announced that they have joined the ruling People's Party of President Joyce Banda.
Cassim Chilumpha has been fighting with Atupele Muluzi in the UDF after UDF disintegrated into two factions that have so far failed to reconcile.
On their part Mussa the Maravi people’s Party president and former veep Chilumpha say they simply would like to assist president Banda in her development agenda.
