Henry Phoya ditches MCP and joins People's Party
Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General Henry Phoya has left MCP the party he joined in a highly publicised event only a few months ago.
Phoya has now joined Joyce Banda's People Party in what will be seen a major defection.
Phoya who recently joined Malawi Congress Party said during the briefing on Thursday morning he has ditched MCP because he felt “rejected by the party hierarchy”.
He also said “am convinced at the commitment by the Joyce Banda’s administration in upholding the rule of law,”
Former vice-president Cassim Chilumpha and Maravi People’s Party (MPP) president Uladi Mussa have also joined People’s Party (PP).
The three have been unveiled at a PP press briefing in Blantyre on Thursday.
