Swift Air introduces Johannesburg air shuttle service
Swift Air, Malawi's new airline is adding Johannesburg to its route starting from Tuesday 21st February and is offering cheaper fares than South African Airways, which was the only airline operating on this route.
Swift Air is expecting to get its first Boeing 737 this Sunday, 19th February and this aircraft will operate on the Lilongwe-Blantyre-Johannesburg route initially flying five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Since the near-collapse of Air Malawi last year, which failed to source a new aircraft to service the Johannesburg route and subsequently suspended the route, Malawian travellers have failed to access alternative cheaper fares.
Return tickets for Swift Air flights to Johannesburg start at about MK66,000 inclusive of taxes.
Swift Air made its maiden flight from its base in Lilongwe to Karonga on Tuesday 19th April 2011 and already flies to Blantyre and Mzuzu.
